It is important to give back in any way you can, especially during the holidays. Here are a few ways you can positively impact your community this season.

Volunteer

Take some time and volunteer for a cause you believe in. it can be at a local pantry or soup kitchen, or places like animal shelters and community centers. You can volunteer on your own, or bring a group to help out. Search your area for organizations that help out those in need and volunteer your time.

Donate Goods

Donating items like clothes, toiletries, or food will go a long way to help out people during the holidays. Go through your home and find things you don’t really use or wear anymore and donate them. While you’re out shopping for your holiday dinner, pick up a few extra items and give them to a local shelter or food pantry. Simple things like toothpaste and soap are great to donate as well.

Create a Giving Tree

This is a great way to get the whole community involved and make a difference. Contact local organizations to see what they’re looking for or if there are families in need. Write down items that they would like donated on different cards and post them in places like the library or your office. If there is a decorative tree anywhere, hang the cards. Make your neighbors and co-workers aware of the cards and people can donate. Bring the entire community together and support those who need it most.
