Four Items to Buy Generic

If you want to save money, but are afraid of losing quality, here are four products you should buy generic that are just as good as brand name.

One of the most important summer items is sunscreen. Look for “broad spectrum” SPF 30 or higher and the brand won’t matter. According to federal law, companies are only allowed use that wording if the product as passed the broad-spectrum test. Save your money and buy the generic brand, it will protect you just as well.

Over-the-Counter Meds

The FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) requires all medications to conform to their standards, which includes over the counter. If you’re just looking for pain relief or cough medicine, there won’t be a difference in the quality of the medication you purchase, so why not save money and go generic.

Aluminum Foil

If you go in to your kitchen or pantry right now you probably have at least one roll of aluminum foil. It is one of the most common household items, and even a couple dollars difference in price can save you a lot of money throughout the year.

Candles are a popular item to gift, light up a room, or create a pleasant setting. If you love candles or have someone in your life who does, go for generic or off-brand, because the savings could be a lot. The next time you’re out shopping for candles, just use your nose. If the generic one smells just as good as the name brand, save your money.
