Four Habits for a Happier Life

Mental health is just as important as your physical health. Here are four habits that will fill your life with positivity.

Get Some Sleep

Getting a full night sleep is great for your body, but it also does wonders for your mind. Feeling tired all day can prevent you from feeling good. According to the American Psychological Association, sleep deprivation can cause negative effects in mood, memory, and attention. These deficits can also lead to aggravation and frustration. Making sure you’re on a good sleep schedule will help keep your outlook positive.

Enjoy the Sun

Spending time outside is good for our brains. The light, fresh air, and interaction with nature is a welcome change from being inside and online. The outdoors have positive effects for mental health like reducing anxiety, and stress. Enjoying time outside can be nice alone, but spending time with others on a beautiful day really brings out the smiles.

Listen to Music

Listening to music can put anyone in a great mood, especially if that music is fun and upbeat. Whether it’s in the car, at work, or at home, turn on some positive music and boost your mood. You might get more done, focus on a task, or turn a bad day into a great one!

Volunteer Your Time

Volunteering creates happiness. The more specific type of volunteering, the better chance it will bring you the most joy. Saving the world is a great thing to want to do, but working at a soup kitchen, collecting items to donate, or volunteering at a shelter are all things you can do now. You will be able to see the results first hand, and that will bring great feelings, to you, and those you’re helping.

At SeaComm, we strongly believe in supporting the communities we serve and carrying out the credit union philosophy, “People Helping People” through donations and acts of kindness. Click here to learn more about our most recent contributions!
