The men and women of our armed forces are true heroes who deserve our respect and appreciation. Whether they serve now, or have in the past, we should show our appreciation for their courage and sacrifice, especially on Veterans Day. Here are 5 ways to thank our veterans.
Donate to a Veterans Organization

There are so many wonderful charities that benefit veterans. You could volunteer your time or donate money to the organization of your choice. If you’re not sure where to start, click here for a list of charities and organizations that support veterans.

Social Media
Change up your online presence to pay tribute to veterans. Add a profile picture that includes a friend or relative who has served. You can post stories or videos of local events in order to raise awareness, or create your own message of thanks and appreciation.

Buy a Meal and More
Spend the day out with a friend or family member who has served and grab a bite to eat. There are many places to go that have specials for Veterans Day to demonstrate appreciation. It’s a great way to show your thanks. Check out this list of restaurants and other stores that include discounts and specials.

Reach Out
Whether you write a letter, text or call, making sure the veterans you know and love hear from you is another way to show them how you feel. You can tag them on social media, bring them a gift, or even surprise them with something from the heart. Here are some examples of DIY gifts for veterans.

Say Thank You
Words can be very powerful tools. Something simple and straight to the point can change someone’s day for the better. Saying thank you may seem like nothing special, but for many, it’s something they don’t hear. If you see a veteran, say thank you, and not just on Veterans Day, every day.
