It can be easy to let your spending spiral out of control if you don’t have savvy ways to save money. Here are five tips to help you save this summer!

Make your home more efficient and cool. If you were blasting your heater all winter, you probably want a break from expensive utility costs. Set up cross-ventilation in your home to promote air circulation, block out the sun, and keep your A/C vents clear.

Run appliances at night. Using your heat-generating appliances such as the dryer or dishwasher at night (instead of during the day) can help you avoid high energy costs. In addition, consider using cold water to wash your clothing.

Hang your laundry outside to dry. After washing your clothes, don’t throw them in the dryer. Instead, hang them outside to dry to help save on electricity costs.

Start your own garden. Save on your grocery bill by planting your own garden! Start by planting easy-to-grow vegetables like carrots, radishes, lettuce, and green beans.

Have a staycation. Taking a staycation means planning many of the same activities you enjoy on a vacation without the stress and cost of travel. Click here to read our blog post for ways to have a staycation on a budget!
