Camping on a Budget

camping

You don’t need to empty your wallet to enjoy the great outdoors. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy your camping trip on a budget!

checklist

Make a list of the supplies you will need. If you forget certain supplies at home, you will need to buy them. Before you leave the house, check your list of necessary things to bring, and don’t leave the house until everything is checked off. Your list might include pots, pans, cups, utensils, pillows, blankets, flashlights, extra batteries, toothpaste and food.

simple

Keep it simple. You don’t need expensive camping gear to enjoy yourself. Instead, check your local thrift stores for discounted equipment. If you don’t have any luck, you can also repurpose household items to use while you are enjoying the great outdoors!

wood

Bring your own firewood. Many campgrounds charge for firewood, and the expenses will add up if you are cooking over a fire each night. Instead of purchasing wood at the campground, bring your own or head out on a wood collecting mission once you have set up camp!

camp

Camp close to home. Camping closer to home will bring down the overall cost of your trip, primarily in gas money. Check out your local state parks and campgrounds on reserveamerica.com!
