How to Take Proper Care of Your Cell Phone

Smartphones are fragile pieces of equipment that cost hundreds of dollars. They are also our first line of contact with family, friends, for business and for emergencies. We’ve gathered six ways you can take care of your phone and extend its life. Continue reading to learn more!

Buy a case and screen protector. These will take care of your phone by preventing it from becoming damaged by knocks and scratches. They will also help to maintain the phone’s appearance, and protect from some internal damage if it is accidentally dropped.

Designate a safe place to store your phone when not in use. It should be somewhere that is out of the way and where the phone is not likely to be knocked on the floor or stepped on. Some good places include keeping it in a drawer, cabinet, or on a desk.

Keep your phone dry. Don’t talk on your cell phone while it’s raining, and don’t place your phone near food or beverages. You should also avoid carrying it near open water or in the bathroom.

Clean your phone regularly. You should not use water or other cleaners that may inadvertently add moisture to your phone. Wipe your phone with dry tissue paper or alcohol wipes to clean the phone’s exterior surfaces.

Keep it cool. Extreme temperatures can damage your phone. Heat is especially bad, with high temperatures damaging the screen and battery. Don’t leave your phone in a hot car, where it is exposed to excessive sunlight. If your phone feels hot while charging, try taking it out of the case.
