Summertime is just around the corner…which also means grilling season! The backyard barbecue is a great tradition, but you don’t have to spend a ton of money to enjoy it. Continue reading for four grilling ideas to stretch your dollar.
Use inexpensive cuts of meat. Backyard grilling does not have to mean breaking the bank on expensive cuts of meat like tenderloin or filet mignon. Look for lesser-known cuts of beef, or use chicken thighs. With a little seasoning and a great sauce, no one will know you are working on a budget!
Make gourmet hot dogs. A package of hot dogs or sausages certainly won’t empty your wallet, but that doesn’t mean you have to serve them up plain. Make ballpark-style hot dogs by dressing them up with spicy mayo and all the toppings.
Go meatless. Protein is definitely the most expensive part of your barbecue, so put together a vegetarian grill instead. You can grill cauliflower, sweet potato, or even eggplant steaks. Serve them alongside grilled tomatoes, corn on the cob, zucchini, and mushrooms. Click here for a list of 31 grilled vegetable recipes!
