Is your inbox out of control? Emailing is an effective way to communicate, but too often, it becomes a jungle of mixed messages. We’ve gathered a few tips to help you organize your inbox and take control of your incoming mail…continue reading to learn more!
Use the FAST system. Once you read it, decide whether to file it, assign it to someone, store for future reference, or trash it. This system is fool proof in consolidating your incoming emails, and allowing you to communicate efficiently.
Use your work email strictly for work purposes. Do not clog up your email with personal messages from friends and family – that is what texting is for. Giving out your work email can also lead to an increased amount of spam messages sent to your inbox. Set up a personal email for contact with friends and family, and other personal needs.
Don’t “panic-check” your inbox. It is counterproductive to check your inbox every few minutes. Instead, set a timer on your email to remind you to check every half hour. This will help you to keep your incoming work in order, while allowing you complete other tasks.
Unsubscribe from junk emails. We all receive unsolicited emails that clog up the inbox and take time to delete. Instead of just deleting these emails, unsubscribe from each one of the senders. You will usually find the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the message.
On the topic of reducing mail, consider upgrading your checking account to a Benefits Plus® checking with SeaComm – which provides you with free junk mail reduction! Your Benefits Plus® membership gives you the option to opt-out of receiving firm offers and specific catalog mailings. Within 60 days you should begin to see a decrease in the number of offers you receive; however, you will continue to get offers from companies you do business with, unless you tell them specifically to stop sending the offers.
