Cheap Ways You Can Help the Environment

There are a few minor changes we all can make to improve the environment and promote sustainability – without spending a dime! Continue reading to learn five ways you can do just that.

Use reusable bags. Plastic grocery-type bags that get thrown out will most likely end up in landfills or in other parts of the environment. It takes a while for the bags to decompose, and they can suffocate animals who get stuck in them or may mistake them for food. Instead, you should opt for reusable, cloth bags when shopping!

Conserve water. Water is wasted more often than we realize. Here are a few ways you can conserve: Turn the faucet off as you are brushing your teeth, don’t turn the shower on until you’re ready to get in, and limit water usage as you wash dishes. Making these simple changes will be good for both the environment and your water bill!

Buy used. Try shopping at thrift stores and yard sales before you look for brand new items. Buying used doesn’t only save you money, it also helps to cut down on items that will end up in landfills!

Recycle. This is such a simple thing to do, but so many people haven’t caught on. It’s as easy as getting a bin and putting it out with your trash cans – for free! Recyclable items include plastic bottles, glass bottles, cans, cardboard boxes, metallic items and more. Click here for more simple recycling tips!

Use less paper. A simple way to do this? Sign up for e-Statements! With e-Statements, your monthly statements are delivered to you online – safer, faster and more convenient.
