Car Buying Hacks for Your Wallet

Buying a car can be stressful and expensive! Here are a few car-buying hacks to help you make the best decision.

Visit dealerships on weekday afternoons. With most people being off on the weekends, car lots are typically very busy during that time. If you’re able to, visit your local dealerships on weekday afternoons. This is a great time for you to get more personalized attention from the salesperson, and have your important questions answered without interruption.

Test drive multiple vehicles. Once you’ve found your ideal vehicle through SeaComm’s online auto buying site, Garage Gizmo, it’s time to take it for a test drive! You should bring along other family members and friends to make sure you have a second opinion. It’s also important to make sure that your taller friends and family members are able to fit comfortably in the vehicle!

Some dealerships allow you to take an extended test drive if needed. Just let them know your concerns and most will work with you to make sure this car can satisfy your needs!

Skip the add-ons. If you’re purchasing a brand new vehicle, it often comes with a very good manufacturer’s warranty. Buying an additional extended warranty on top of what you already have might give you peace of mind, but there’s a good chance you’ll never use it!

If you decide that you still want the extended warranty, look around for the best deal. Even if the dealer’s option turns out to be the best, at least you’ve done your homework!

Don’t settle. To prevent yourself from taking a bad deal, you need to be willing to walk away. There will be other dealers and other days to find a vehicle at the price you’re comfortable with!
