Host a potluck barbecue. Instead of hosting a traditional Fourth of July barbecue, you should make it potluck-style so you’re not the only one in charge of supplying the food. Ask your guests to bring a dish to share, and opt to use real plates instead of paper or plastic (one less thing to purchase!) Click here for a list of 50 cheap recipes for July 4th!

Don’t go overboard on the decorations. Simply using red, white and blue table cloths and napkins will give your home a patriotic ambiance. These can all be purchased at your local dollar store. If there will be children at the party, consider having a red, white and blue water balloon fight!

Have fun with sparklers. You can’t celebrate Independence Day without sparklers! Typically, a pack of 72 sparklers can be purchased for less than $9.99.
